Chicago, Illinois
The objective of the project was to select, analyze, and interpret a joint condition. The resulting analysis would serve as a foundation for future design projects throughout the semester. The intersection of the Red Line subway with the Brown / Purple Line elevated structure at Willow Avenue on the north side of Chicago was selected. The elevated structure itself is composed of an infinite number of joints between various members. The final product was an interpretation of the relationship between the connection of the two rapid transit lines and the individual connections between the various structural members. The means of study included photo montage, line drawings, and a model.
